In 1856, an English stonemason, Thompson Priest, began mining slate in Mintaro. Around the same time, he built a home with stables at the rear of his property. Over the intervening years, the stables fell into a desperate state; however, recently, the Stables have returned to life through a sensitive restoration.

With its inspirational location, Stables by the Vines has been designed and refurbished to suit the holiday maker, artist, writer, photographer or musician.

Reillys’ vineyard provides a link from the Stables to their cellar door and the village of Mintaro.
